City of Rancho Cordova Engages Youth with Community Programs

Case Story

The City of Rancho Cordova offers youth workforce and civic engagement programs in partnership with community-based organizations.

Youth @ City Council is an opportunity for youth 13-18 to serve as leaders during the virtual council meetings (and prior to COVID-19, in person).  Through the Youth @ Council program participants learn about your local government, connect with civic leaders, experience a professional work environment, gain leadership skills, and learn how to make a difference in their local community.  Youth applications are available in Spanish and English.

“As young people enter the workforce they bring new ideas and perspectives. I’m excited that government and the services we provide are evolving with the fresh ideas they bring.” – Cyrus Abhar, City Manager, City of Rancho Cordova
